Calling all party people, bass-heads and loud music enthusiasts: Don’t let this Saturday pass you by without experiencing a dj-packed night of four of the most exciting acts coming to town. Family Ties presents: 6Blocc, edIT from the Glitch Mob, CHI and Wave Farmers will be spinning glitch-hop, house and dubstep all night long at Republic Live. It’s going to be a party, lights, lasers, booming bass, everything you could ask for of one of those wild Saturday nights.
Edward Ma, better known as edIT or R.A.W. is a producer and DJ based in LA. Previously known as The Con Artist, his work is most notably seen with the Glitch Mob and artists including Busdriver, TTC, The Grouch, Dilla, Daddy Kev and Abstract Rude. He was named one of the next 100 artists to watch in 2006, so by now we should definitely have an eye on this guy. He now owns the labels Planet Mu and Alpha Pup. Watch him perform with the Glitch Mob here:
6Blocc has been spinning and battling djs since before the modern dj culture. In the mid ’80s, he was spinning hiphop under the name Project X. As he was making his name, called R.A.W in the 90s and early 2000s, in the LA hiphop and dj scene, he began spinning a mix of hiphop, hardcore, jungle and turntablizm which is what made him a legend today. He began playing underground raves on the west coast and by the mid 90’s was touring all over the world. Since 2007 he reinvented himself again as 6Blocc, incorporating more bass and dubstep into his sound. He got his name from a line from a Masta Ace song, “the bass I create is heard from six blocks.”
The show starts at 9:30 Saturday, April 16 at Republic Live in the Warehouse District. Get your tickets here for the party you don’t want to regret missing out on.
