So this Thursday is Cinco de Mayo and we all know that there’s a good chance by the morning of May 6 the last thing you’re going to want to do is look at / even think about Mexican food, margaritas, piñatas, and basically tequila in general. But May 6 is a Friday so OBVIOUSLY you’re going to need to man up and drag your hungover butt out of bed because there is a bitchin Austin nightlife out there and you need to enjoy it.
And what better way to forget about your post-Mexican celebration hangover than listening to the garage rock sound of The Greenhornes and JEFF the Brotherhood at Antone’s? There may be tequila there, but I’m sure there will be no sombreros in sight. You can do it. I believe. And, this could be a free outing. By clicking “I Like It” you can enter the chance to win one of THIRTY pairs of free tickets or a VIP table for 4.
And not only do you have a pretty darn good chance of getting free tickets, but the bands are also legitimately rad and will undoubtedly put on an awesome show.
Craig Fox, Jack Lawrence, and Patrick Keeler have been jamming as The Greenhornes since 1996. You MAY be more familiar with (unless you really HAVE been living under a rock) The Raconteurs, the immensely popular band that Lawrence and Keeler formed with Jack White in 2005, and trust us, The Greenhornes are just as awesome. Their garage rock sound is distinctive and powerful. It makes me feel like wearing flannel and not showering….in a good way. Check it out:
Their sound is an eclectic mix of psychedelic, punk, garage, and pop rock sounds. Just take a look at this video. The psychedelic influences are prettttty apparent…and awesome:
Don’t let your Cinco de Mayo hangover get you down. Check out The Greenhornes and JEFF The Brotherood on May 6 at Antone’s. Doors open at 8 p.m, show at 9 p.m!
