It’s springtime, which means it’s time to break free of the humdrum usual and find something new and exciting to dance to! Where to start? Dengue Fever will be playing at Emo’s on Friday, May 6th at 10pm!
The LA native band mixes Cambodian pop with indie rock to create something entirely new and totally awesome. The 8-piece ban was created in 2001 after one of the members traveled to Cambodia and discovered Cambodian pop. However, the lead vocalist and lone female of the group, Chhom Nimol, was actually born and raised there, giving this band an authentic touch. Legend has it the group found her while searching for a vocalist – there she was, singing in a bar in Long Beach, trying to raise money to make it back to Cambodia where she already had a rep as a fantastic singer. We’re very happy fate had its way and this band was born – there’s really nothing else quite like it.
