Benefit Concert for Nick Curran 5/14 at Red 7

Cancer Sucks. I don’t think there’s anyone in the world that would disagree with that statement. There’s no better way to say it. Cancer just sucks.

Nick Curran knows this firsthand. Curran is a local Austin musician who has played with the Flash Boys, Children in Heat, and his own project, Nick Curran and the Lowlifes. Nick Curran also recently got out of surgery for throat cancer after being diagnosed for a second time.

But Nick Curran has some great friends who are standing by his side through this long ordeal. They understand that cancer treatments are expensive as hell…so they’re doing something about it.

Members of The Riverboat Gamblers, Stabba, Drug SxE, World Burns to Death, The Beulemics, The Applicators, The Krum Bums, and Children of Heat are putting together a benefit concert filled with a night of cool covers for Nick Curran and his medical bills.

Chepo in Heat will cover the Misfits, and Good Head will perform Tubonegro’s Apocalypse Dudes tunes, with Rockaway Bitch, an all-girl Ramones cover band, also taking the stage.

All of the door money will go towards helping Nick Curran pay his medical bills and cover his cost of living as he goes through this long road to recovery.

The benefit concert will be held this Saturday, May 14 at 9 p.m. at Red 7.

What’s better than going to an awesome show while getting to help out a beloved Austin musician? I’m going to go with “nothing.” So come stop by Red 7 this Saturday, listen to some great bands, and say “Fück Cancer.”
