Swing dancing is the most entertaining form of dance to watch. That is a fact. Arms flailing, legs flying, skirts twirling and people getting thrown around a dance floor with incredible energy makes for a hell of a fun time. For 12 years the Austin Swing Syndicate has been allowing people to express their passion for swing with weekly dances at the Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs Mansion. The dances boast 200 to 350 attendees to their weekly Thursday gatherings, which is a big deal considering the event has taken place for over a decade. It’s a place for the swing community to gather for a party with friendly familiar faces alongside welcomed newcomers. They offer a free beginner dance lesson to encourage newcomers to participate and feel comfortable on the dance floor.
To celebrate 12 years of swinging dance parties, they’re throwing a big one next Friday, June 9: The 12th Annual Anniversary Dance featuring Jonathan Doyle and his All Star band for just $10 for non-members and free for members.
