This Thursday (6/30), Antone’s will be hosting the Annual Starlight Showcase! For three years now, the showcase has been put on to benefit the Starlight Children’s Foundation in Texas – a nonprofit organization that helps the quality of life for children with serious medical conditions. So now is your chance to hear great music and help a good cause at the same time. I mean, who wouldn’t love putting adorable smiles on little kids?
The showcase this year features several acts, including Tulsa’s own OK SWEETHEART – a band self-classified as “Heartbreak Pop” full of little ditties reminiscent of the late 60’s. Fronted by Erin Austin, the band provides tales of love, heartbreak and the life that occurs in between those two extremes.
Local natives of Austin, TX, Andy Barham and The Good Prevails bring a mixture of Folk & Americana that has drawn comparisons to Willie Nelson. Also throw in some blues, and a dash of easy guitar-finger-pickin’ that’s pleasant to the ears.
Also hailing from Austin is Electro-Acoustic band, Sevonica. Started off as a experiment in Fall 2010, the five-piece band quickly released their first EP this past December and have hopes of releasing their full-length album later this year.
Esther Lavonne – bright, club, dance-pop. An attention-grabber, Esther likes to own the stage with her fun theatrics and ‘take me as I am’ mantra. Deciding to break away from her all-male backup band, the leading lady is now on her own and if anything, wants to make sure that you have a good time dancing, living…or doing whatever it is that makes the world a better place to be in.
Esther Lavonne – “Choir”
Last but not least, we have DJ Troy who will be spinning records and providing a mix of classic hits for your entertainment – interweaving hip-hop, dance and glam-rock among others genres to get you on the dance floor.
