On Thursday, July 14th, Momo’s will play host to a trifecta of artists, each with their own distinct sound, from rockin’ country to stripped-down Americana. Australian singer-songwriter Kasey Chambers headlines the show. With over a decade of chart-topping country hits to her name, Chambers has been a mainstay in the country scene, including four of her albums going multi-platinum in Australia.
Chambers is Crocodile Dundee-esque in her ability to translate her Australian roots into American success. In addition to touring with the likes of Emmylou Harris and Lucinda Williams, her albums have consistently placed in the top 50 of Billboard’s US Country charts. Her combination of a pure harmonies and soulful lyrics have made her a favorite for both the traditional country crowd and also those looking for something with a bit more rock influence.
The concert at Momo’s also features Warren Hood and the Goods playing what promises to be a boot-stompin’, hand clappin’ show of fiddle-infused bluegrass, blues, and more. Hood is a singer-songwriter and unabashed master of violin, fiddle, and mandolin. As early as 17, he was performing as a soloist with the Austin Symphony, and later attended the Berklee School of Music for violin performance. He has been previously named “Best String Player” by the Austin Chronicle, and can bow, pluck, or fiddle tunes in genres from Americana to gypsy. Hood has been a regular performer at Momo’s for years now, and always puts on a great show.
Little Brave rounds out the show with a sound that shares the sultriness of Cat Power. The band is in the midst of a string of shows at Momo’s, showing a little extra love to the Austin venue on their tour across Texas. All together, the lineup for the Momo’s show on July 14th should supply great music for just about anyone who likes established country icons, virtuoso singer-songwriters, or talented up-and-comers. So pretty much anyone that doesn’t out-and-out hate good music.
