This year, Opal’s 2nd Annual Drink Pink Ball has put a swingin’ spin on the theme. The “Gatsby Affair” will turn Opal’s Penn Field into a speakeasy with all the excitement of the prohibition era (except you can drink legally!) complete with awesome music and dancing. Austin jazz-swing band The Lucky Strikes will be performing as will the The Jigglewatts – Austin’s own celebrated Burlesque troupe. Ever seen them? They rock!
Come dressed in your best flapper/gangster garb and enjoy awesome Dulce Vida 100% Organic Tequila in a variety of Opal’s specialty pink cocktails! You’ll get two drink tickets for a $20 donation at the door which gets you in to the party as well.
The proceeds of the event will benefit The Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas, a non-profit grassroots organization created by breast cancer survivors. As a centralized source for breast cancer information, education and support, the BCRC has been helping those in need (over 20,00) since 1995 and are now stronger than ever. For no charge to those they help, BCRC helps callers and visitors by connecting clients with support groups and breast cancer survivors who have shared similar experiences and made it through. Think about how much that could do for a person in need! These organization is nothing short of amazing, and they do wonderful work.
The Jiggelwatts burlesque troupe has been putting on amazing shows in Austin since 2006 and has the bragging rights to some of the best talent in Texas. Both men and women can enjoy the performances put on by these classically trained dancers, singers and actors. They are sexy as hell, yes, but these ladies put on a show that’s equally upbeat, clever, elegant and fun at once. Don’t miss ’em! As for the men of Lucky Strikes, these dudes are a straight blast from the past. Known to be one of the most authentic swing revival acts around, the Lucky Strikes will keep you moving all night long!
Lets talk tequila. Organic tequila, we are in Austin after all. Headquartered in our fair city and master distilled in San Ignacio Cerro Grodo, Jalisco, this sweet nectar of live is 100% organic agave tequila. They are very happy to be providing drinks at this event as the founder and investors are all major benefactors for the BCRC.
Personally, I’ll take any excuse I can get to dress up like a flapper- but this is a good one! Head to Opal Divine’s Penn Field on Saturday, October 8th at 9pm for good old fashioned fun benefiting a great cause. See you there!
