A new Austin-based non-profit has launched today that promises to be a new fundraising stream to help schools supplement their rapidly diminishing budgets. Founded by three Austin music industry heavy hitters, Jan Mirkin-Earley (Broadcast and Artist Relations, ACL Live), Lisa Hickey (Festival Marketing Director, C3 Presents), and Mellie Price (Founder, Front Gate Tickets), Bedrock allows student to sell music from emerging and established artists to raise money for their band, choir, booster club, or other educational program. Buyers download and listen on their computer, iPod, or other MP3 player. Artists get more exposure, and schools get hassle-free fundraising. Everyone wins.
With an easy click you can download the Bedrock music collection-an album compiled of various local Austin artists including Grammy winners and the up-and-coming. The proceeds benefit local schools and organizations such as Austin Partners in Education and Communities in Schools. a

Schools and organizations benefit from Bedrock as a fundraising tool because it is inventory free, convenient and appeals to everyone. Who doesn’t love music?! Bedrock also created a unique and easy to use fundraising tool for students and educational organizations. The tool allows the student or organization to reach family and friend networks via email/Facebook/Twitter and the web. Students and schools can earn contributions for their specific school through the fundraising tool which automatically tracks their personal music sales.
High school students can participate in the rewards program earning special prizes or even a scholarship.
Bedrock is even beneficial for musicians. They receive royalties and gain exposure to new audiences. The schools and organizations are given %55 of the gross sale of each album- a much larger percent than most fundraisers.
Everyone wins. Schools and musicians are benefitting, and you get awesome music while supporting an awesome cause.
